Tim Michels was born to a blue collar family in Dodge County. Tim worked at Michels throughout his youth and returned to the company after 12 years as an Army Ranger, where he attained the rank of Major and served as the commander of the White House Honor Guard and the Tomb Sentinels, the Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. For 25 years, Michels has worked alongside his family to run Michels Corporation, which in that time has grown from a few hundred employees to a nationally-admired, multi-faceted construction company with more than 8,000 unionized and non-union employees. The successful businessman and veteran is now running for Governor of Wisconsin.
