Brandon John Lerch grew up in Clarion, Pennsylvania, a small town north of Pittsburgh where his ancestors have lived for seven generations. Lerch attended high school at Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh and received a B.A. in Germanic Literature and Languages from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Upon departing Boulder, Lerch went to Washington D.C. to find employment on Capitol Hill and conduct his own survey of our republican form of government. First employed by Congressman Gil Gutknecht of Minnesota, he discovered little foundation for the dismissive cynicism reserved for Congress by the ivory tower and college town populists. While with Rep. Gutknecht, Lerch gained experience in healthcare policy as well as international affairs where, unexpectedly, his German fluency became quite useful as lead staff liaison for the Congressional Study Group on Germany.
By 2004, Lerch followed an opportunity to work for a Congressional Committee performing oversight of the Executive Branch. As Chairman of a House Government Reform and Oversight Subcommittee, Congressman Mark Souder tasked Lerch to oversee numerous areas of human and social services.
Now the Director of Government Affairs for We Care America, a faith-based non-profit, Lerch continues to pursue the same issues of public policy including German-American relations.
Lerch and his steadfastly supportive wife, Meghan, live in Arlington, VA. They are proud mentors to Latoya Lewis, the loving mother of Philia Lewis.
